[ it's ok, Red is fine on allowing Wolfram to concentrate. It's nice!! The guy is really into it and Red can respect that.
He's even popping open the jam jar with that last pancake in place, the spoon ready to be stuck in. ]
They're easy, right? You should find out what Yuuri likes to make them even tastier. Some people like honey or lemons, or some like melted chocolate over them! You can get a really sweet cream too...
[ But they have jam, and Red plops a small spoonful onto the side of Wolfram's plate, while putting some on his own, too. ]
Give it a try! You can sprinkle some sugar on the top if you wanna make them extra sweet. [ With that, Red's turning his head towards the kitchen door: ] Xing, Xong, Tong! You want pancakes?!
[ No need to be loud, Red...!! For not a few seconds after he calls, the door swings open and a slimy looking gumdrop comes wiggling through, two other of the same kind squeaking complaints at their excitable brother for giving them away. Huffff!!!!
But they soon follow the other, who is bouncing up and down so high, he's beginning to reach up to Red's waist.
[Thanks, Wolfram will take jam, jam, and more jam with his pancakes, piling it on in nice, fat blobs with the addition of the spoonful that Red already put on his plate. Someone's got a bit of a sweet tooth.
Wolfram's looking at his meal instead of wherever Red's calling to, determined to get a perfect pile of jam over the pancakes.] Xi...? What are you saying?
[Wolfram finally glances over and goodness gracious; thankfully he drops the spoon right back into the jam jar instead of letting it clatter to the floor.] What are those things?
They're porrings! [ No one cares about Wolfram's shocked and rude mouth, and Red would probably be putting them on display with that introduction if not for the fact he's grabbed his plate of pancakes, kneeling down to meet the most sloppery, excited of the three.
Except the other two are eyeing Wolfram like they're seen something unpleasant--oh right, they have. They do care about whatever this guy is saying, one of them bloating their mouths, then spitting a side of pink saliva to the side. Gotta problem, bud??? You wanna go??? ]
Play nice! [ Is the intervention from Red, and the pair don't seem to care to keep it up as they bounce haughtily over to Red, ready to take a pancake of their own after Red gives one whole to the first, who gobbles it down from above their heads.
[They're...alright, they're a little cute, probably, slobbering aside. Wolfram definitely sees the suspicious look they're giving him, and he's likely giving the same kind of expression right back. They're not going to drool all over his boots, are they?
But he also sees Red playing nice and providing them some delicious pancakes, so it makes sense to do the same, right...? Wolfram stabs one of his own pancakes with a fork, picking up one that isn't swimming in jam, and holds it in plan sight to the pair in front of him. Peace offering?]
Where on earth did you get these thi- [Er-] -porrings?
[ Better have a good hold on that fork Wolfram, since it might just near leave with the pancake if you don't. And don't think either it won't gobble up the kitchenware just to sure how cool and tough it is. Porrings will eat anything, and this one's got it's eye on you.
(aww, they're being friendly) ]
They belonged to a man I used to be close with, Lu Meng. He's the one who named them. [ Obviously, but the names are always an odd delight for Red, and as he feeds them the next few pancakes (there's not many, really, but he never intended to keep more than one for himself): ]
Xing, Tong, and Xiong. [ Xing is the one with the attitude, Tong the one acting Too Old For Any of This, and Xiong the one making bubbling happy noises, and coming over to Wolfram with a small bounce. Am I getting a pancake too? ]
Their bodies are like jelly and they can eat anything. They're messy sometimes, but they're good guys. Xing takes a while to warm up to people. [ But he is not against eating your food, buddy. ]
They don't look it but their stomachs are endless!
[Wolfram is danging the pancake a bit, keeping the fork just out of reach, and it's a good thing he did because the porring definitely comes close to inhaling that down, too. He tries to keep more distance with feeding the second one - Xiong as Red says - though a single serving doesn't stop them from staring up at Wolfram.]
You don't say. [He frowns and waves his hand a little at them; he hasn't tried his own pancakes yet, so they can wait for seconds! Don't look at him like that...! Maybe if he sits and ignores them, they'll get bored and try to steal from Red's plate instead.
Wolfram's watching intently as he cuts into the top pancake, which is resting somewhere under the mass of jam. He brings it to his mouth (most of the jam slipping off) and...]
It's good! [Er, that is, of course it was going to be good!]
But that's alright, Red will get them to stop fussing Wolfram by another them each another pancake, of course paying attention to Wolfram when he eats. And that conclusion? ]
Great! See? And you can make them any time! Cream and strawberries are really nice, so is chocolate melted over! With the flower festival coming up, I bet you can find edible flowers too, to add to it!
[ Candy flowers!! ]
You don't want to go overboard making them on the day though. [ Not saying Wolfram will, buuut- ] There's so much cake and food usually, you won't need to worry about going hungry. With the cake too, there's tables just for couples where you can get bites of the fanciest of them together!
[Good, they've stopped oogling his plate. Wolfram handles his utensils and cutting of his food in a way only expected of a prince, though the portions he cuts are pretty big for his fork. Sweet tooth and a large appetite. The porrings will probably not get any leftovers from his plate after this, so they better not be hoping for seconds!]
The festival...only couples can have the best cake... [Well, now he's decided Yuuri's plans for that day! Wolfram wasn't sure if he would attend, but now he is absolutely going. He glances up at Red, having another thought now that the festival's been mentioned.]
What do you think of these Arehtei? Also, do you have sparkling wine? [To have with his pancakes, obviously.]
That many?! [Whoa! And he assumed all this time they were some elusive, mysterious beings - intentionally being elusive to be annoying, of course. He frowns, poking at a piece of pancake.]
Are they supposed to be like gods? It's hard to tell how much influence we're supposed to believe they have around here.
Well I know they don't like being seen as gods. They're just connected to the world and how it works; they're there to make sure everything's balanced!
[ blah blah yadda yadda, basic info. He's got no more pancakes to give to the porrings than his last one, and he's keeping that, the gelatinous creatures opting to stay in his company regardless of no food (the one still giving squinty eyes at wolfram). ]
Most of what happens here has to do with us before them these days. [ But, hmm. ] What do you think they can do? What's a god to you?
Can I talk to one? [Wolfram grips his fork. That's perfect! Surely they would have information that's actually useful, unlike the so-called Welcome Center here. Still bitter about that, yes.]
I'm sure I can do it. What ritual is required to summon one? Are any sacrifices needed?
...No? You can just use the amulet and mind talk to them. [ Like a normal person, please don't conduct a sacrificial ritual. ] Do you care about who it is? Peromei's usually inside her tree--she'd be the easiest to meet to talk to.
Oh. [That's boring, but probably for the best. Wolfram's finished his pancakes by now and is working on scooping up the remaining globs of jam from his plate. Nothing left for the porrings, alas.
He barely knows the names of all of them, but if he had to choose...] I would pick Elios.
[ Eating jam all by itself? Egh. Red will wait to take his plate once he's done so to put them near the kitchen sink, no rush to actually clean up this stuff. ]
Elios? He's... yeah, he's easy to talk to! I haven't seen him around the city a lot lately, but you can always try to reach him by calling out. You just need to think about wanting to speak to him, and he'll answer!
Why Elios though? [ ... ] Is it because he's made out of fire?
No. [That's just a funny coincidence, honestly. Wolfram grips his perfectly-cleaned fork in a tight fist. The kitchen may naturally feel like the warmest room in the house, but it's definitely getting even warmer.]
What else? That Elios is supposed to be a symbol of love, isn't it?
[Thankfully it's a pleasing kind of warmth, if a bit close to stuffy summer-heat temperature. If Wolfram's mood was the opposite, his fork would probably melt in his hand.]
It may not be a god, but it has to be good for something. Such as good luck to one's romantic life...
What? Why would he do that? [Perhaps Elios likes to keep up with the local romance gossip...? Wolfram looks behind his shoulders.] Are they always watching?
wolfram please-- ] He's not in the room with us. [ heh ] He just really likes romance, and seeing people in love. That kind of thing. He doesn't do anything to anyone.
